  • Don't worry! While ideal lighting helps, I understand that not every photo from your past was taken with color analysis in mind. Those less-than-perfect photos still provide valuable context about how you look in different environments and how your coloring has evolved over time.

Include a mix of photos if possible—some from different lighting situations, different seasons, and different times in your life. The variety actually helps me see patterns in how colors interact with your unique features. And if you're concerned about lighting in your older photos, just make sure your current selfies are taken in natural, indirect light for the most accurate analysis.

  • Not everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera, and that's perfectly okay! You don't need to be a social media influencer to get a great color analysis. Here are some simple tips:

    • Use natural light (near a window but not in direct sunlight)

    • Hold the camera at eye level or slightly above

    • Take multiple shots rather than trying for the "perfect" one

    • Ask a friend to help if you're really struggling

Remember, I'm looking at how colors interact with your skin, eyes, and hair—not judging your photography skills! The most important thing is that I can clearly see your features and the colors you're wearing. Send your best attempts, and don't worry about them being "Instagram-worthy." Some of my most successful analyses have come from clients who claimed they were "terrible at selfies!"

PS - if the photos isn’t good enough to use in your analysis, I will keep asking for more until we get it right!

  • Yes, we have worked with clients of many ethnicities and regions (East Asian, South Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, Latino, and Middle Eastern) and skin tones ranging from olive, tan to deep.

  • We can determine your best colors even if your hair is dyed! This is why we ask you to submit historical photos and fill you an extensive questionaire.

If your’e wondering if your current hair color works for you feel free to add that into your questionaire answers!

If you have photos of your natural hair color feel free to submit those along with your consult photos for reference.

  • This is the perfect time for a color analysis! As you transition to gray, your color harmony is evolving, and having professional guidance can make this journey much more satisfying and less stressful.

Many clients find that their best colors shift slightly during this transition, and knowing which colors enhance your changing hair can help you feel confident throughout the process. I'll help you identify colors that complement both your current transitional state and your future fully gray palette.

Better yet, understanding your seasonal color harmony gives you a framework for adapting as your hair continues to change. You'll know which colors to emphasize more as you progress, making your wardrobe work for you through every stage of your gray hair journey. Don't wait until you're "finished" transitioning—get the tools you need to look fabulous right now!

  • Your seasonal tan doesn't change your fundamental color harmony! Your undertones and eye color remain consistent year-round, which is why your color palette stays the same.

That said, many clients find they can confidently wear some of the bolder or brighter shades within their palette when they have a summer glow. You might naturally shift which colors from your palette you prefer as your skin deepens in summer and lightens in winter.

Pro tip: Include photos from different seasons in your submission if possible. Seeing your coloring at various points throughout the year gives me the most comprehensive understanding of your unique color story.

  • Hair color is just one element of your overall coloring. With every analysis, I identify which hair colors and highlights naturally complement your palette. These recommended hair colors will harmonize beautifully with all the clothing colors in your palette.

If you choose a hair color outside these recommendations, you might experience two effects:

    1. Some colors in your palette may not enhance your hair as effectively (though they'll still flatter your skin and eyes)

    2. You might actually be able to incorporate certain colors outside your typical palette because they coordinate with your chosen hair color

Remember, your core palette remains primarily determined by your skin tone and eyes, as these features respond most dramatically to the colors you wear.

  • Natural aging often brings subtle shifts in our coloring. Skin typically develops cooler undertones over time, and gray hair has a naturally cool quality. These changes tend to impact people with warm and neutral-warm palettes most noticeably.

While your foundational palette remains, you might make small adjustments:

    • If you have a warm palette, you may find the most vibrant yellows and oranges becoming slightly less flattering, while discovering new appreciation for the cooler blues, greens and reds within your palette

    • If your hair is transitioning from very dark to gray, your overall contrast level decreases. You might balance this by adding definition with mascara or a bolder lip color when wearing the darkest colors in your palette

    • The specific shade of gray in your hair is naturally harmonious with your coloring—it's a perfect neutral to incorporate into your wardrobe

These subtle evolutions don't require a complete palette overhaul, just thoughtful adaptation as your coloring matures.

  • Your experience is important to us! If at any point you are unhappy with your consultation experience, reach out to me at thestylerystudio@gmail.com
